23An awareness programme on ‘Know zoonoses to no zoonoses’ was jointly organized by NSS Unit, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, School of Zoonoses, Public Health and Pathobiology and Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology in association with Animal Husbandry Department, Department of Health, Education Department, National Health Mission and Suchitva Mission at CMS, School, Thrissur on 19th July, 2014. The programme was inaugurated by Adv. Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA, Thrissur and was presided by Shri C. C. Sreekumar, District Panchayat President, Thrissur. The District medical Officer Dr Venus V.V welcomed the gathering. Dr A P Usha , Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy released the brochure on zoonoses and also delivered felicitation in the function. Thrissur District Collector, Smt. M S. Jaya , IAS, Dr A. P Usha, Dr N R Harshakumar, DAHO, Thrissur, Shri K Gireeshkumar, standing committee chairman , Thrissur and Dr C B Manamohan, NSS Coordinator offered felicitations.
The programmes included an awareness class on zoonoses by Dr C Latha, Professor and Head , Dept VPH, CVAS , Mannuthy for school children. An exhibition was arranged by the NSS unit of CVAS Mannuthy with the focal theme on zoonoses. Competitions included: drawing ,painting and quiz competitions for school children . The first prize in drawing competition was won by Harikrishnan T R ( VIII B) and for the quiz competition by Athul Krishn M R and Rohit Raj of tenth standard.
