About the Project
The Livelihood Enhancement Project aims to support the holistic development of tribal communities in Wayanad by improving their social, economic, educational, and health conditions. The project focuses on sustainable livelihood creation, capacity building, and empowerment of tribal youth and students through education, skill development, and entrepreneurial support.
Objectives:
- Enhancing the social and economic well being of the tribal community of Wayanad by providing sustainable livelihood support
- Facilitate strategies for continued education among tribal students, improving communication and other skill sets required for better community life.
- Facilitate employment generation of tribal youth through skill enhancement and self-employment
- Ensure better health and general well being through capacity building and campaigns.
- To augment Entrepreneurial culture among tribal groups
Technical Programme:
The project aims to take up the cause of people of Wayanad for up-liftment of the backward community. In this context, tribal Unnatis in the reach of the University will be adopted envisioning improving their livelihood, provide inputs for better standard of living and exploit the potential of tribal youth towards economic and social security. Therefore, the project gives due emphasize on the removal of poverty in an attempt to improve the social and cultural standards by educating them, organizing literacy campaigns, employment generation of tribal youth, empowering the life skills of the students, skill trainings and capacity building. Education, communication skills and general health and well being are essential for better social acceptance and prevent exploitation, which will be addressed.
