Organizing training is the important mandate of the directorate of Entrepreneurship. The major focus is empowering the farmers in commercialized farming with due emphasis on scientific management practices for resource friendly and sustained and safe production. The division also conducts in-service trainings to the officers of Animal Husbandry, Dairy development department and other stake holding departments. Vocational trainings are short duration trainings offered for farmers, students, women self- help groups and entrepreneurs for capacity building. These are generally paid trainings. Stipendiary trainings are skill development trainings offered to unemployed youth.

TRAINING FOR IN-SERVICE CANDIDATES OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY DEPARTMENT OF KERALA

• Obligatory three months training for the Senior Veterinary Surgeon/Assistant Directors of Animal Husbandry Department, Kerala
• Assistance to States for control of animal diseases (ASCAD) trainings for the Veterinary Officers
• ASCAD trainings for para-veterinary personnel

TRAININGS UNDER NATIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK (NSQF) PROGRAMME

The training programme under NSQF will allow students to acquire skill training along with academics. It will help in ushering a change in approach to vocational training and foster entrepreneurship among Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) students. The students were given training on various aspects of animal husbandry, poultry rearing and dairy technology and conducted an orientation program for entrepreneurial ventures.

MEAT TECHNOLOGY UNIT MANNUTHY

Meat Technology Unit Mannuthy conducts following stipendiary training programmes.

• Meat processing cum plant operation

  Duration : 2 years

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 5500/-

  Educational qualifications :VHSE- Livestock Management- Dairy Husbandry / livestock Management- Poultry husbandry, Certificate in canning and food preservation/+2/SSLC

• Wholesome meat production and meat processing

  Duration : 1 year

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 4500/-

• Meat plant operation and maintenance

  Duration :1 year

KVASU-DAIRY PLANT

University Dairy plant is providing different types of skilled training programmes for a period of 1 year to unemployed youth.

• Skilled training on operation and maintenance of Dairy equipments:

  Duration : 1 year

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 5500/-

  Number of candidates : 4

  Educational qualifications: : ITI/ VHSE/ KGCE certificate in Electrical / MRAC trades

• Training on instrumentation and quality control in dairy industry:

  Duration : 1 year

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 6000/-

  Educational qualifications : Graduates in the field of chemistry / microbiology / biotechnology

• Apprenticeship training on Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) of dairy plant and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in processing of milk and preparation of different value added milk products :

  Duration : 1 year

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 5500/-

  Number of candidates : 2

  Educational qualifications : VHSE in dairying/livestock management (dairy husbandry)

TEACHING VETERINARY CLINICAL COMPLEX, POOKODE, UNIVERSITY VETERINARY HOSPITAL, MANNUTHY & KOKKALAI

• Stipendiary training on veterinary laboratory techniques, pharmacy and nursing

  Duration : 6 MONTHS

  Monthly stipend : Rs. 6000/-

  Number of candidates : 4 AT EACH STATION

  Educational qualifications : VHSE in dairying/livestock management (dairy husbandry)
