Diploma in Poultry Production
The diploma programme covers the following topics viz., current status of Indian poultry industry; avian biology and welfare; breeds and varieties of poultry, poultry breeding and genetics; systems of rearing, housing of poultry, floor, feeder and drinker space requirements, poultry equipments; physical requirements of incubation and hatchery management of different types of birds; brooder, grower, layer and breeder management of different species of poultry like chicken, duck, quail, turkey, geese, guineafowl etc.; broiler management; summer and winter management of poultry; artificial insemination; nutrients requirements and its inclusion level, feeds and feeding, feed additives, feed mill equipments and their operation; diseases of poultry including deficiency diseases, vaccination, biosecurity measures to be followed; poultry processing, further processing, value addition, packaging and marketing of meat and eggs; economics of broiler, layer, quail and backyard poultry production; management of poultry manure, hatchery waste and poultry processing plant waste, different types of composting and biogas production; hands-on training of poultry farm and hatchery management; development of communication skills and computer skills on MS word, excel and power point presentation.
