Anti-Drug Awareness Programme Conducted at VKIDFT

As part of the Anti-Drug Week Celebrations, an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme was organized on 15 July 2026 at the Verghese Kurien Institute of Dairy and Food Technology (VKIDFT), Mannuthy. The programme was jointly organized by the KVASU NSS Cell, VKIDFT NSS Unit and Anti-Drug Cell, VKIDFT with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and fostering a drug-free campus.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Asha Rajagopal, University NSS Programme Coordinator. Dr. Jose Mathew, NSS Programme Officer, VKIDFT, presided over the function, while Dr. A. K. Beena, Dean, VKIDFT, welcomed the gathering. The event was graced by Shri Pradeepan K. R., District Social Justice Officer; Shri Cino Xavi, Senior Superintendent, District Social Justice Office; Dr. P. Sudheer Babu, Associate Patron, VKIDFT; Dr. Abhinash P., Anti-Drug Cell, VKIDFT; and Shri Shafeeque Yoosaf, District Coordinator, Vimukthi Mission, Excise Department.

A thought-provoking awareness session on "Prevention of Drug Abuse" highlighted the physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse. The interactive session encouraged students to make informed choices, resist peer pressure, and actively contribute towards building a healthy, drug-free society. The programme proved to be highly informative and inspiring, leaving a lasting impression on the participants and reinforcing the importance of leading a responsible and addiction-free life.

As part of the celebrations, an online poster-making competition on the theme "Say No to Drugs" was conducted, and the winner was felicitated during the programme. Adding a creative and impactful dimension to the event, VKIDFT students presented a powerful mime performance conveying the message "Say No to Drugs," which received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.

The programme concluded with a group photograph and a collective pledge by the participants to uphold the values of a drug-free campus and to serve as ambassadors of anti-drug awareness in the community. The event was a resounding success in sensitizing students to the dangers of drug abuse and strengthening their commitment towards a healthier and safer society.
