281. Training on Advances in the Diagnosis, Therapeutic Management, and Control of Infectious Diseases of Pet Animals was conducted from 15/11/12 to 17/11/12 with Dr. Tresamol. P. V. Associate Professor as the course director. Ten officers from various parts of Kerala attended. Trainees were familiarized with recent and advanced trends on diagnosis, treatment and control of prevalent diseases of pet animals. A separate session dealt on zoonotic and emerging diseases. Hands on training was imparted to the participants on application of current laboratory techniques, Flourescent Antibody Technique, Lateral Flow technology and field level diagnosis of diseases.
2. Training on Current and Practical Concepts on Therapeutic Management, Prevention and Control of Mastitis was conducted from 19/11/12 to 21/11/12 with Dr. K. Vinodkumar, Assistant Professor as the Course Director. Eight officers from various parts of the state participated. Training concentrated on present etiopathological profile of mastitis in the state and suitable approaches for treatment and control under field conditions. A separate session explored the potential of alternate systems of medicine on therapeutic management of mastitis. Hands on training was imparted on detection of subclinical mastitis by various laboratory methods, measurement of electrical conductivity of milk and automatic somatic cell counting. Preparation of antibiogram profile of various etiological organisms was also done.
