Continuing Veterinary Education
With the rapid growth in technological knowledge and frequent paradigm shifts in technology, continuing education of working professionals is vital. The continuing education programme of the university has been set up to meet the manpower training and knowledge up gradation needs of professionals working in the animal husbandry sector and related fields. The focus of the programme is to provide practical state of the art information that can be applied to technical problems when one returns to one’s place of employment.

The continuing education cell of the university was set up with the objectives of:

  • Assisting working professionals in the animal husbandry sector to widen their knowledge base and improve their skills
  • To enhance the global competitiveness of the animal husbandry sector by promoting the use of cutting edge technologies among professionals through training and expertise in critical areas
  • To promote strong industry-institution linkages

TRAININGS CONDUCTED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
DoE has approved the training programmes for the year 2011-2012 and is organizing trainings on stipendiary, in-service, and vocational trainings to various sections of public. This year the DoE has conducted 24 batches Inservice- programme for Officers of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department. 201 officers had benefitted from the training programmes. DoE has also initiated Vocational training programmes catering to the needs of the public in collaboration with ATMA and other organizations. This year, DoE ha organized 11 programmes and 206 participants have benefitted from these trainings. Apart from this, DoE is also undertaking Stipendiary training programmes at KVASU. 9 batches of training at Dairy plant ,meat plant and University veterinary hospitals were organized and 37 students were benefitted.

MDP FOR FACULTY MEMBERS AT IIMK-TWO BATCHES OF 30 EACH COMPLETED THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
Two batches of Management Development programmes for the faculty members of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University were conducted at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode was from 9th -11th August, 2011 for the first batch and from 24th -26th August, 2011 for the second batch. Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK inaugurated the three days training programme. Director of Entrepreneurship Dr.S.Ramkumar presided over the function. He mentioned that KVASU was looking ahead for a visible performance based development. Dr.B.Ashok IAS Vice Chancellor KVASU was the Chief Guest during the Valedictory session for the second batch. Director IIMK Professor Debashis Chatterjee and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. B. Ashok distributed the certificates.

       


ON JOB TRAINING PROGRAMME
On job training programme for Vocational Higher Secondary students in Poultry Husbandry, Dairy husbandry and Dairy Technology ( 3batches of 26 students each) were organised – The students were given training on various aspects of animal husbandry, poultry rearing and dairy technology and conducted an orientation program for entrepreneurial ventures.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR THE FRESHERS HELD AT POOKODE
Orientation programme for the first year students of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was held at Seminar Hall, KVASU Pookode Campus from 18th to 20th October 2011.

THE TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR THE YEAR 2012-2013 WAS INAUGURATED
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University inaugurated the training programmes of KVASU for the year 2012-2013 on16th April 2012. Three months Training programme for Assistant Directors of Animal Husbandry Department, ASCAD Training programme for the Veterinarians of Animal Husbandry Department and Hands on training in the Preparation of milk products are the major training programmes scheduled for the month of April 2012.
ORGANISED THE THREE MONTHS TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR ASSISTANT DIRECTORS OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY DEPARTMENT The three months Training programme for Assistant Directors of Animal Husbandry Department was organized in the College of Veterinary And Animal Sciences, Mannuthy from 16th April to 7th July 2012. The training is arranged on five modules incorporating clinical , paraclinical, Public health, Animal Production, Extension and Entrepreneurship aspects for 20 Assistant Directors of Animal Husbandry Department

THE ASSISTANCE TO STATES FOR CONTROL OF ANIMAL DISEASES (ASCAD) TRAINING PROGRAMME 2012 ORGANISED AT CVAS, POOKODE
ASCAD (Assistance to states for Control of Animal Diseases) training programme 2012 on “Advanced concepts and techniques in the diagnosis and control of infectious and contagious diseases’ for Veterinary officers of Animal Husbandry Department was organized at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in two batches on 18th of April, 2012 and on 16/5/2012. A compendium was released in connection to the training. The 10 days training programme is being attended by 19 Veterinarians including Senior Veterinary Surgeons from the five Northern districts of the state.
 


ASCAD (Assistance to states for Control of Animal Diseases) training programme 2012 for paraveterinarians on “Training on laboratory procedures and handling of modern diagnostic equipments for veterinary technicians” for 5 days was held at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on 7/5/2012. The second batch of training was held on 12/6/2012.A total of 40 para veterinarians had undergone training.
