22The Directorate of Clinics is undertaking a training programme on “Reproductive health management in cattle” for Veterinarians within the State. This Need based training programme is envisaged in self-financing mode and Dr. Leeba Chacko, Assistant Professor, Department of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, CVAS, Pookode is officiating as the Course director. The training commenced on 21st January, 2016 and is scheduled for three days. Achieving acceptable levels of fertility in livestock species is of paramount importance in maintaining viability and profitability of the livestock enterprise and will be a hall mark accomplishment of the training programme. It is pertinent to note that the advent of small scale livestock holding has compounded the problems faced by the veterinarians in maintenance of fertility in bovines. The planned training programme is designed to provide hands-on experience for budding veterinarians in breeding management and diagnosis and treatment of infertility in bovines.
