26Kerala exhibits spectacular growth in Dairying; Says Hon'ble Minister for Dairying and Culture Sri.K.C.Joseph. Minister made this remark while inaugurating the State Dairy Fair held at St.Peters College, Kolencherry, Ernakulam District from 25th to 26th February 2016. It was organised by Dairy DEvelopment Department.During the last five years 34 percent increase in milk production has recorded in the State. Ksheera Karshaka Pension has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 750 per month. During 2016-17 95 Crores of Rupees has been allocated for Dairy sector. At a time when prices of Agricultural commodities have been reduced, dairy sector could achieve substantial growth. Minister added. Sri.A.K.Sajeendran MLA presided over the function. A state level workshop on Recent trends in Dairying was held at St Peters College Auditorium. Director of Entrepreneurship of KVASU Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan delivered the keynote address. Joint Director Sri.Victor was the moderator. Dr.Abraham Mathew, Retd DGM, KLDB took a class on importance of feeding and management to augment production. Director Smt.K.T.Sarojini, Joint Director Mr.Baiju, Chairman of ERCMPU Sri. Balan Master and Chairman MRCMPU Sri. Surendran Nair spoke on the occation..An exhibition was also held as part of the State fair. KVASU participated in the exhibition and showcased its innovations. Around 500 farmers attended the State Dairy fair.
