24As a part of plan project on “Start up village in live stock production”, Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in association with Pullazhy Kole Society organized a seminar on “Waste Management and Rain water harvesting” for the selected farmers on 23.07.2016 at Pullazhy Library Hall, Thrissur district.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Rajani Viju, Councillor, Pullazhi, Thrissur by distributing vegetable seeds and books to the beneficiaries’ Sri. Kolangattu Gopinathan, President, Pullazhy Kole Society has chaired the programme. Dr. Deepak Mathew, Assistant Professor, CBF, Thumburmuzhi, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has handled the technical session.
The importance of water management in this era and various water harvesting methods were introduced to farmers. The different waste management techniques also presented to farmers, especially in the area of converting waste to an added income for farmers. Apart from that the major issues facing by the farmers in the cattle rearing also discussed in the session.
The selected 30 farmers were participated the programme. While concluding the session, Dr. Deepak Mathew has pointed that farmers should concentrate more on the marketing aspects especially in group marketing in order to fetch maximum price for their produces.
