College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy celebrated ‘Farmers’ day’

The College of Dairy Science and Technology, Mannuthy in association with Indian Dairy Association – Kerala Chapter and Dairy Extension Service Unit, Ollukkara organized a one day ‘ Dairy Seminar and Students’ Visit’ under the auspices of Mannamangalam Dairy Co-operative Society (DCS) of Ollukkara block as part of Chingam 1 – ‘Karshaka Dinam’ ( Farmers’ Day). The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Reji George, Puthur Grama Panchayath Member and presided over by Mr. I.K. Subramanian Master ( President of the DCS). Mr. Mahesh, Dairy Farm Instructor gave the prizes and token of reverence to the dairy farmers of the Society.

Dr. Yancy Mary Issac and Ms. Indu B, Assistant Professors of CDST took classes for the farmers and cleared their doubts. Mr. Lawrence, AH department, Dr. Kanthanathan, Assistant Professor and Mr. Sandeep.B., Teaching Assistant were present. Ms. Divya M.P, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering and Adv. Davis Kannukkaadan, Secretary of the DCS gave the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by selected 40 farmers of Mannamangalam DCS. The Seminar was followed by lunch and the students of 2014 batch B. Tech (Dairy Science and Technology) studied the functioning of the Bulk Milk Cooler and attended the afternoon milk collection at different centres of the Society. They also visited dairy farms.
