KERALA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WON NATIONAL INNOVATION AWARDS

                                    Kerala Agricultural University students bagged National Innovation Awards for best entrepreneur team in the Business Plan presentation during the Sensitization workshop on entrepreneurship development held at CVAS, Mannuthy on 26th August 2016. It was organized jointly by Agri - Business Incubator of NAARM Hyderabad, CIFT Kochi, Kerala Agricultural University and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Of the 49 entries registered for the Business plan competition 18 teams were selected and of which awards were given to best two business plans. Cash awards of Rs. 10,000/- and Rs 5000/- and certificates were given to the winning team. Students from college of Corporation Banking and Management, Kerala Agricultural University won the first prize. The team includes Amalraj K.R, Sishith .V.C, Vineeth V and Yogesh.K.P The project presented was developing Bio Mosquito Repellent from the turmeric leaf Oils extracts by steam distillation.
The second prize was won by Students of Kelappaji College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology, Thavannur. The panel of judges included Dr.K.Srinivas, CEO, Business incubator, NAARM, Hyderabad, Dr.Sunil, professor, KVASU, Dr.George Ninan, CIFT, Mr. Ashwanth, a successful Entrepreneur. The judging panel suggested that the entries received are of better innovative in nature, which can be scaled up further.
Dr. S Estellita Department of Extension Kerala Agricultural University was the chief guest during the valedictory function. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhvan Director, Entrepreneurship presided over the function. The awards were presented in the presence of Dr. K. Srinivas, CEO, NAARM, Dr. Mathew Samuel, Principal investigator, CIFT, Dr. K.P.Sudheer, Professor, KAU, Tavannur, Dr. Deepa Ananth, KVASU.
