27Kerala is one of the leading meat consuming states with a total meat consumption of nearly 4.5 tons per year. In the context of protein security and increasing hunger for safe and ready to eat meat products, there need to have enhanced awareness on producing wholesome meat . The increasing demand for wholesome meat can be met by empowering the young entrepreneurs to venture in producing meat and value added products strictly holding to the food safety standards. Observing the scope and interest of entrepreneurs and to address the challenges in this sector, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is organizing meat entrepreneur meet 2016 “Meet 4 meat, 2016” to bring a common platform for the meat entrepreneurs, scientists and other stake holders in the industry to discuss on different aspects in meat production, processing, entrepreneurship and marketing. This programme is organized as part of "Developing specialized software for the livestock entrepreneurs of the state" and the results of the discussion would be made available in the upcoming entrepreneurship portal of KVASU.Interested persons may contact Dr.Deepa Ananth, Organising secretary and register for the programme.
