17 Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will organize State level Livestock Entrepreneurship meet at Peerumade, Idukki District. Directorate of Entrepreneurship in association with SPICES Developmental initiative of Peerumade assembly constituency and Base farm, Kolahalamedu to implement the programme.Livestock entrepreneurship summit will be held on 19th February2017 Sunday at ABG Auditorium, Peerumedu. The summit will focus on building entrepreneurship in the areas of various livestock farming, different entrepreneurship opportunities and innovations, marketing possibilities, skill development, value addition, product diversification among unemployed youth, SHGs, women and unskilled rural inhabitants through empowering the marginalized community to ensure a sustainable livelihood source. The summit is designed to provide knowledge on emerging sectors in pig farming, commercial oat production, dairying and allied activities, subsidiary income generation enterprises, eco-friendly precision farming and scientific rearing of dairy animals, poultry entrepreneurship, free range production, layer farming, farm tourism, providing safe to eat products, Banking and Finance and building sustainable market. The programme will also enlighten the participants on various funding opportunities in the country.
University had decided to include Wayanad, Idukki and Palakkad district on a mission mode to strengthen Dairy and other livestock ventures in the districts. It envisages meeting self-sufficiency in milk, meat and egging production in tune with the increasing demand. Moreover the programme will facilitate to provide employment opportunities to unemployed yuth and providing livelihood and nutritional security. The programme will be inaugurated by Adv. E.S Bijimol.MLA, Peerumedu. Dr. T.P Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will deliver keynote address. The sessions will be led by Dr. AjithBabu, Special Officer, College of Avian Sciences Manangement, Thiruvizhamkunnu, Dr. Dipu M.T, Assistant Professor and Head, Base Farm, Kolahalamedu, Dr. George Sherin .K, Assistant Professor, Base Farm, Kolahalamedu and Dr. Deepa Ananth, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Entrepreneurship.
