NABARD in association with Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Lucknow and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University will jointly organize a National level workshop along with Annual Business meet for the senior officers of NABARD in the discipline of Animal Husbandry and Dairying from 24th to 26th April 2017. The conference will be held at hotel Garuda, Thrissur. Topic of the workshop is Impact of climate change on livestock based livelihood systems. Experts from BIRD, NABARD, KVASU and Nabard Consultancy services (NABCONS) will present papers in the workshop. The programme envisages for creating action plan for doubling the farmers profit by 2022 under the changing climatic scenario. Director BIRD Dr.D.V.Deshpande, CEO, NABCONS Naresh Gupta, CGM, NABARD, Registrar and Vice Chancellor of KVASU in charge Dr.Joseph Mathew, DGM BIRD Dr. R.S.Reddy, and senior officers from KVASU will attend the inaugural session. Different sessions include the role of Officers with animal husbandry background in changed environment & mainstreaming livestock activities to NABARD’s / GOI’s recent initiatives like Doubling of Credit, Business Opportunities for Consultancy Services under AH Sector, Understanding Climate Change – Impact on Livestock Productivity – Adaptation & Mitigation Measures, Climate Mitigation Measures, conservation and Promotion of Indigenous Genetic Resources of livestock and poultry, Funding Mechanism of Climate Adaptation / Mitigation Projects under GCF and other funds, Veterinary Infrastructure in India- Status & Strengthening Initiatives, Veterinary Call Centres- Reaching Farmers 24X7 and Farmer Centric Technological Interventions in Livestock and Poultry and Strategy for future developments in AH sector under climate change scenario. Workshop will formulate appropriate action plan for achieving the envisaged objectives. 30 senior officers from NABARD will attend the workshop.
