28The Department of Veterinary Public Health , CVAS Mannuthy and SZPHPB in association with Bodhi Grameen Vedhi organized an awareness programme on ‘Safe drinking water’ on November 18th, 2018 at Kanamkullakara, Venkitangu Panchayat, Thrissur which was one of the flood affected areas. Around 85 samples from this Panchayat was tested free of cost soon after the floods during August, 2018.
The class was handled by Dr K Vrinda Menon , Assistant Professor , Dept of VPH, CVAS, Mannuthy and the samples were tested by the post graduate students of the department.
The physical properties of around 50 water samples were tested in the camp and results along with treatment procedures for water purification was advised to the people. Around 10 samples in the flood affected areas which the people were not using due to fear of contamination were also collected for detailed analysis after visiting the areas. The samples were later tested in the laboratory and results were given along with advice regarding treatment methods.
