Poultry industry must be ready to brace a change in the market trends in the post COVID- 19 scenario says Mr.Paul Gittins, Senior Business consultant, Aviagen India in the international webinar conducted in connection with the virtual inauguration of ICAR National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) - Innovation Grant at College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu, Palakkad.
The virtual inauguration of ICAR National Agricultural Higher Education Project- Innovation Grant was conducted at College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu on 28/07/2020 at 10.30 AM. The programme was inaugurated by Adv. K Raju, Hon. Minister of wild life and Animal Husbandry and Pro-chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The official launching of the three day webinar series on Role of Poultry Sector in boosting the Post-COVID Indian Economy was done on the occasion by the Minister. The Innovation grant of ICAR National Agricultural Higher Education Project has been granted for developing various infrastructure facilities for the advancement of knowledge and skills of the faculty and students to improve their potential and to ensure better service to the society. The project also envisages setting up of research laboratories in disease diagnosis, feed analysis and meat products quality control. Prof. Dr. M.R. Saseendranath, Hon. Vice Chancellor, KVASU, Prof. Dr. G. Girish Varma, Faculty Dean (Poultry Science) and Dean i/c College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu, Adv. N. Shamsudheen, MLA, Mannarkkad , Dr. R.C. Agarwal, Deputy Director General (Edn) ICAR, Dr. R.B. Sharma, National Co-ordinator, IG Projects, ICAR, Prof. Dr. Ajith Jacob George, Director Academics and Research, KVASU, Prof. Dr. M.K Narayanan, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, Prof. Dr. P. Sudheer Babu, Dean, Faculty of Dairy Science, KVASU, Prof. Dr. N. Ashok, Registrar, KVASU , staff, students and other dignitaries joined the inauguration programme.
In the three day webinar series seven sessions were conducted on different aspects of poultry by experts. Prof. Dr. Veerasamy Sejian, Senior Scientist , Centre for Climate Resilient Animal Adaptation Studies, NIANP, Bengaluru, Dr. Raina Raj, Head of Marketing, Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Paul Gittins, Senior Business Consultant, Aviagen India, Dr. Renjith Nair, Business Unit Lead –Companion Animals (India) & Commercial Lead (BNS – Distributor Markets), Zoetis Inc, Dr. Mukund Kadam, Assistant Professor, MAFSU, Nagpur, Prof. Dr. Richard Churchill, Directorate of Research, TANUVAS and Dr. Ranjith Ramachandran, Associate Professor, Meat Science, Oklahoma State University presented various topics. The sessions were chaired by Dr. G. Girish Varma, Dr. Joseph Mathew, Dr. A. P. Usha, Dr. P. Anitha, Dr. Leo Joseph, Dr. Thirupathy Venkitachalapathy and Dr. B. Sunil respectively.
Around 300 participants from various parts of the country joined the sessions. The webinar ended on 30/07/2020. The valedictory session was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. N. Ashok, Registrar, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Various dignitaries from the University joined the programme.
