COVID-19 Real Time PCR testing at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode.

COVID-19 real time PCR testing has started at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The testing is being carried out in the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode. Three laboratories of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology of the College have been converted into laboratories for the testing. The equipments that are available in various Departments of the College are being utilized for the testing. Those equipments that were not available in the College were purchased with funds provided by the District Administration, Wayanad. The testing team consist of Faculty members from the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, and technical and supporting staff provided by the Health Department and National Health Mission, Wayanad. The Faculty members involved in the testing are having hands on experience in the technique of PCR. The lab was renovated by the District Nirmithi Kendra, Wayanad and the equipments were purchased from funds allotted by the District Administration, Wayanad. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the lab for COVID-19 testing in Wayanad. The lab is supposed to carry out testing of samples received from the Health Department.
