18Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor of KVASU and Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Milk Co-operatives and Zoos, Smt. J. Chinchu Rani visited KVASU Headquarters, Pookode, Wayanad on 16th July 2021 as a part of her one-day visit to Wayanad.
The minister suggested various activities to be initiated and undertaken by the university in a discussion with people’s representatives and university officials. Starting a veterinary nursing college, first of its kind in the country, to ensure competent manpower for supporting veterinary healthcare centres was the major target suggested. Also directed to strengthen researches on development of high producing and locally adaptive livestock and poultry breeds and in the areas of vaccine production and disease diagnostic techniques. Minister also urged the university community to give thrust on quality improvement and human resource development through conducting trainings, workshops and seminar involving internationally renowned resource persons.

The minister launched the male buffalo distribution to tribal youth as a part of ICAR traibal sub-plan 2021. Dr. Senthil Murugan, principal Investigator of the project briefed the project. Minister also visited Gothra Mission, a unit established under KVASU for empowerment and skill development of tribal youth. Dr. George Chandy, officer-in-charge of the unit explained the activities.
