Sankaran Namboothiri’s Vocal Concert held @Pookode

                Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organised a Carnatic concert by the renowned vocalist Sri.M.K. Sankaran Namboothiri in connection with the 1st inter-collegiate arts festival MISTIQ 2012 on 6th November2012 at KVASU Pookode Campus, Wayanad. He was accompanied on the violin by Thiruvazha Viju. S.Anand, on the mridangam by Balakrishna Kamath and on ghatam by Manjoor Unnikrishnan.
           The concert started with the popular Dikshithar Kriti “Vathapi Ganapathim” in Adi thala. The vocalist took the audience to mesmerizing moods through compositions like Brochova (Khamas) and kripaya Palaya (charukeshi). The raga selected for the major elaboration was Abheri( Nagumo, Thyagaraja, Adi) which was embellished with some surprise swara combinations. Vocalist then moved on to lighter padams by Swathi Thirunal and finally a thillana in kadana kuthoohalam. Dr B.Ashok IAS Vice Chancellor, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University presented mementos to the Artists and Dr S Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship proposed vote of thanks.
