17Research Collaboration between KVASU and Health University on One Health Concept will help to control emerging zoonotic diseases; Says Dr.K.Mohandas, VC, Kerala Health University. Vice Chancellor made this remark during the inaugural session of one day National symposium on Current concepts in vaccination against prevalent and emergent Zoonoses held at Hotel Ashoka Inn, Thrissur on 16th March 2013. Department of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences of KVASU Mannuthy campus organized this Symposium. Dr. K.Mohandas, Vice Chancellor Kerala University of Health Sciences inaugurated the Symposium. Dr.H.Subramanian, Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy presided over the function. Registrar Dr.K.P.Sreekumar released the Compendium and Director of Research KVASU Dr.M.R.Saseendranath delivered keynote address. Dean CVAS, Pookode Dr.Leo Joseph offered felicitations.
Dr.Ashwath Narayana,Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KIMS, Bangalore presented a paper on Recent Concepts in Rabies Vaccination, Dr.Ravikumar, Professor& Head, Leptospira reference Lab, Chennai presented a paper on current status of leptospiral prevalence and its implications on vaccination, Dr.M.R.Saseendranath, Director, Academics and Research, KVASU presented a topic on Anti rabies Vaccination in animals-Prospects and Problems and Dr.S.M.Byre Gowda, Joint Director(LP), SRDDL, Bangalore presented a topic on Kysanur Forest disease. Faculty members from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Health University presented research papers on emerging zoonotic diseases. 140 members including researchers, faculty members and students from both Universities participated in the Symposium
