02Kerala Agricultural Development Society (KADS) organised an agricultural Exhibition-Vithumaholsavam (Seed Fest) from 19.04.2013 to 23.04.2013 at Thodupuzha, Idukki district. The exhibition was organised to familiarise progressive farmers and public to all types of seeds, planting materials, livestock and scientific management practices in agriculture and animal husbandry. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sri. Roshy Augustine MLA.
Responding to the request of KADS, Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, CVAS, Mannuthy with the support of Staff of Base Farm, Kolahalamedu of KVASU set up three stalls in the exhibition. The significance of Veterinary University, details of institutions, academic courses, scientific achievements, publications, products and services rendered to public were displayed with attractive posters and models. The exhibition paved the way for highlighting the activities and contributions of the University among public.About 30000 people visited the exhibition. Stall of the University was widely received by the public as indicated by the large number of queries for Vechur cows, Aishwarya Poultry Project, piglets, rabbits, goats, meat and dairy products, Thumburmuzhy Aerobic Compost and fodder planting materials etc. Many students who visited the stall enquired about the courses offered by the University and its future possibilities. University publications worth Rs 7950 were sold. The exhibition was a grand success and contributed a lot in highlighting the activities and contributions of the University among public.
