24 Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in association with NABARD organised a workshop on Animal Husbandry Sector at NABARD Conference Hall , Thiruvananthapuram on 22nd July2011 to finalise the Extension Action Policy of the University . Chief General Manager NABARD Kerala Circle Mr. Shashidhar inaugurated the workshop. In his opening remarks NABARD CGM emphasised the need for changing the traditional extension system to a farmer friendly need based extension system. He suggested that it can be named as Extension plus System.Dr. B.Ashok IAS Vice Chancellor of KVASU delivered the keynote address. 35 delegates from various departments actively participated in the Workshop. This include Senior officials from KVASU, NABARD, SLBC, Canara Bank, Federal Bank, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy development department, Milma, Kudumbasree mission,media and progressive farmers . Dr.S.Ramkumar, Director of Entrepreneurship presented a paper on the need of the Extension Policy in different domains like Extension, Media&Publications, Training and Institutional Linkages. The farmers expressed their views on various issues that they were facing in Dairying. Dr.Sudhodanan, Dr.Ayub, Dr. R.Venugopal and Dr.G.S.Madhu presented the conclusions of their respective group interactions and suggesed suitable interventions. Director of Animal Husbandry Dr.R.Vijayakumar, Registrar, KSVC Dr. N.N..Sasi and Director of Dairy Development Smt. Sarojini participated in the workshop. Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan welcomed the gathering and Dr. B.Sunil offered vote of thanks.
