13 TANTOR-the Cartoon workshop organized by the Students Union of Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Pookode, organised sessions exclusively for school and college students of Wayanad. The programme was inaugurated by Senior political cartoonist Shri P V Krishnan (Saakshi fame) and Sri M Mohandas (Kapish & Mayavifame, Balarama), drawing cartoons on canvas. Shri. Amal Raj K. V (Gen.Secretary, Students Union, KVASU) welcomed the gathering. Dr. B Ashok, IAS (Vice Chancellor, KVASU) presided over the function and Dr. S Ramkumar (Director of Entrepreneurship) gave the keynote address. Sri Sudheernath, camp director formally introduced the cartoonists. Dr. K. P. Sreekumar, Registrar, KVASU and Dr Leo Joseph, Dean, COVAS, Pookode felicitated the occasion and Kum. Geethika.A, expressed vote of thanks.
About 80 selected students from different schools and colleges of Wayanad participated in the workshop. The students got a unique opportunity to interact with cartoonists and animation geniuses of Kerala and to sharpen their basic talents in cartoon. A talk by the scientists of KVASU on Animal Anatomy and Biomechanics benefitting the cartoonists was held on 11.2.2014. This unique workshop has brought in an opportunity for talented children, who generally miss guidance in improving their skills in cartoon.As part of the workshop a flute recital by Sri Chalakkudy Reghunadhan was arranged in the evening.
