22One day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights was organised jointly by Regional Research and Training Centre(RRTC), KVASU, Thiruvananthapuram and Patent Information Centre, KSCSTE, Government of Kerala on 19.08.2014 at Kerala State Veterinary Council Seminar Hall, Peroorkada, for the officers of Department of Animal Husbandry and Department of Dairy Development. The workshop was inaugurated by the Worshipful Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Adv.K.Chandrika who stressed the need of having an awareness of the IPR laws among the scientific community in this era of innovations. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr.K.Narayanan Nair, Consultant Professor of Centre for Livestock Development and Policy Research (CLPR). There were three technical sessions: ‘IPR – Tool to protect inventions and creations’, ‘Patenting System in India and Patent filing procedures’ and ‘Patenting life forms in India’ handled by eminent resource persons. The Additional Director of Animal Husbandry Dr.V.Brahmanandan offered felicitations. During the valedictory function Dr.J.Chandramohan, Registrar, Kerala State Veterinary Council gave Presidential remarks and Dr.S.Ramkumar Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU delivered keynote address and distributed the certificates to the participants. Dr. Shibu K Jacob, Co-ordinator, RRTC welcomed the gathering and Dr. Anu George, Co-ordinator, CLPR expressed vote of thanks.
