TRAINING CONDUCTED FOR POULTRY ENTREPRENEURERS OF WAYANAD DISTRICT, AS PART OF KOZHIKOOTTAM PROJECT OF KUDUMBASHREE

            The Directorate of Entrepreneurship of KVASU conducted training programme for poultry entrepreneurs of Wayanad District Kudumbashree Mission from 27th October 2014 to 1st November 2014. The training programme in connection with ‘kozhikkoottam’ project of Kudumbashree benefitted 475 participants of Thariyode and Padinjarathara grama panchayaths in three batches. As part of the project, each person in a group consisting of 5 members will be provided with a cage and 20 crossbred layer birds. The training programme on layer poultry rearing consisted of various sessions viz. general management, scientific feeding, housing, common diseases & their prevention and control. Dr. Abdul Muneer of Dept. of poultry Science, CV&AS, Pookode, Dr. Radhamma Pillai( Professor, KVK Ambalavayal), Dr. Ajith Babu (Dept. of Poultry Science, CV&AS Mannuthy), Dr.Jayesh (AHD), Dr. Vimal Antony, Dr. Jayakrishnan (AHD), Dr. Ninakumar (AHD), Dr. Vidya. P (Asst. Professor KVASU) handled the sessions. The training was intended to equip the women entrepreneurs in scientific rearing of layer poultry, promotion of egger nurseries among kudumbashree groups etc. Dr. T. P. Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, Dr. Deepa Ananth (Asst.Professor, KVASU), Thariode Grama Panchayath President Sri. C. T. Chacko, Padinjarathara Grama Panchayath President Smt. K.Naseema and other local leaders were present during various sessions of the training programme.
