10Hon'ble Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer protection, Government of India Prof. K.V.Thomas and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Oommen Chandy launched the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University's prestigious Aiswarya Poultry project during the inaugural function of Haritholsavam2011 held at Marad, Kochi on 3rd September2011. In the era where food security issues are emerging, Aiswarya project envisages production of eggs under homstead condition with specially made cages using high yielding Athulya layers and commercial feed.On an average this project will yield 1500 eggs per annum. Renowned scientist Dr.M.S.Swaminathan visited KVASU's exhibition highlighting the academic, research, entrepreneurship and extension activities of the University. Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU Dr.S.Ramkumar attended the function.
During the valedictory function on 7th September 2011, 43 beneficiaries were given Homestead cages with Athulya layers. Director of Academics and Research, KVASU Dr.A.Jalaludeen inaugurated the function and distributed the Poultry coops.Dr.Peethamaran, Dr.P.J.Rajkamal,Dr.B.Ajith Babu and Dr.B.Sunil participated in the function.
