Origin & History:
Bioscience Research and Training centre (BRTC) was established by KVASU in the campus of BIO360 Life Sciences Park at Thonnakkal, Thiruvananthapuram on 17th April 2018. The University, through the setting up of this centre, aim to conduct high quality research and training in frontier areas of pathogen biology. The research at BRTC focuses to enhance knowledge on infectious diseases on animals, for the development of vaccines and improved therapeutics for animal health care. In parallel the centre provides capacity building in the above areas of research by conducting workshops and training programmes to generate a high quality and immediately employable work force with knowledge relevant to the present industrial needs.

The Institute's focus of research is on infectious diseases for the development of vaccines and therapeutics.

General functioning
The centre have virology, cell culture and molecular biology laboratories with all infrastructure required to carry out high end research across multiple disciplines in the field of virology, immunotherapeutic and molecular diagnostics. Apart from research activities, the institute also facilitate training programmes and workshops for research aspirants.
