03PREBAV 2018 (Poultry Research Entrepreneurship Banking Agri Venture) was inaugurated by Sri. Advt. V. S. Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Kerala minister for Agriculture held on 30th April 2018 at College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu. Dr. Joseph Mathew Registrar and DE i/c of KVASU welcomed the gathering. Smt Shanthkumari, Jilla Panchayat President, Palakkad District, Sri Yusuf Palakkal Manarkad Block Panchayat president, Sri Muhammed Elias, Kottopadam Grama panchayat president, Sri Pradeepkumar, Kottopadam Grama panchayat member, Smt.K.N.Suseela Vice President, Kottopadam gramapanchayat and Dr. N.Ashok, Director Academics and Research, KVASU, Dr.Shyam mohan, finance officer, KVASU offered felicitations. Special officer, Dr.Stella Cyriac delivered the report of the projects. Dr.Sabin George, Sri. K. Sunil, Member Management council, Dr. Koshy John, Dean CVAS, Pookode, Sri K.P.Baburaj, Director I.D.Wing, Dr.P.Anitha Director, CASPS, Dr.Thirupathy Venkitachalapathy, Head, LRS, Thiruvizhamkunnu were the other dignitaries present in the occasion. One day workshop and expo was conducted in view of supporting Entrepreneurs, Students, Researchers, Industries and Banking sector in the field of poultry sciences was organized by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
Dr. Selvakumar Deputy General Manager venkiteswara Hatcheries discussed on current scenario of state in poultry sector and marketing strategies to be adopted to counteract fluctuations. He emphasized the needs to plan marketing strategies based on feed price. He also described on current trends in marketing including ICT supported marketing methodologies. Dr. Raj Kumar, Assistant manager, Venkiteswara Hatcheries described on the different breeding techniques followed and the selection procedures. He explained that the R&D sector of VH is coming up with strains with FCR 1 and 1.2. Currently the strain 430 ideal for the state in terms of egg production says Dr. Raj Kumar. Dr. Ajith Babu gave a vivid description on the management and business opportunities in “keeping ornamental birds” and Sri. V. Gunashekaran explained about newer trends in mechanisation of poultry houses and hatcheries for improving productivity. Mr. Joji C. D. of Abhilash hatcheries discussed on the entrepreneurial opportunities in hatchery management and associated risks. Mr. Showkath Ali discussed on the issues faced by the entrepreneurs in poultry sectors and policies. The sessions were moderated by former professors of department of poultry science Dr. A. Jalaludheen and Dr. Leo Joseph Mela on various aspects of poultry industry such as feed additives medicines, equipment and other allied sectors were displayed and was also visited by honourable minister. The PREBAV 2018 has provided ample opportunities for students of KVASU degree and diploma poutry courses, to understand the current scenario, emerging trends and entrepreneurial opportunities says Dr. Deepa Ananth General convener, PREBAV 2018.
