03New hatchery, feed mill and the training centre for College of Avian Sciences and Management, Thiruvazhamkunnu, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was inaugurated by Sri. Advt. V. S. Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Kerala State Minister for Agriculture on 30th April, 2018. The program was presided by Sri. Advt. N. Shamsudheen Hon’ble M. L. A. Mannarkkad and Dr. Jospeh Mathew Registrar, KVASU welcome all to the function. Special officer Dr. Stella Cyriac presented the report. Smt Shanthkumari, Jilla Panchayat President, Palakkad District, Sri Yusuf Palakkal Manarkad Block Panchayat president, Sri Muhammed Elias, Kottopadam Grama panchayat president, Sri Pradeepkumar, Kottopadam Grama panchayat member, Smt.K.N.Suseela Vice President, Kottopadam gramapanchayat and Dr. N.Ashok, Director Academics and Research, KVASU, Dr.Shyam mohan, finance officer, KVASU offered felicitations. One-day workshop and expo PREBAV-2018 was organized by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, in view of supporting Entrepreneurs, Students, Researchers, Industries and Banking in poultry sector.
The new hatchery developed under the project RKVY (Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana) has a capacity of 20000 eggs at time and this will support poultry farmers in Malabar area as it can produce and supply good quality quail, duck and poultry chicks. The training centre developed under RKVY project can accommodate 100 trainees per day and the feed mill developed under the project fund of NABARD – RIDF can supply high quality poultry feed for farmers at reasonable price with an output of 4-5 tons per hour. The minister suggested that the benefit of technologies & research of the university should reach farmers and the facilities in the university need to be utilised in its full potential.
