25Centre for One Health Education, Advocacy, Research and Training (COHEART) and Dept. of Veterinary Public Health, CVAS, Pookode jointly organized a training programme on “Importance of Food Safety, quality meat and milk production” for Panchayath presidents, vice-presidents, health standing committee chairman and health officials of Wayanad district. This training programme was part of State plan project sanctioned under Directorate of Entrepreneurship. The programme was inaugurated by Dean, Dr. Leo Joseph, who addressed the participants the importance and role of the new centre and released the logo of COHEART. The District Panchayat president, Sri. N. K. Rasheed, addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of food safety and suggested that a collaborative effort can emerge from COHEART to provide remedy for food safety issues. The technical session was handled by Prof. P. Kuttinarayanan, Head, Department of LPT and Mr. P. J. Varghese, Food Safety Officer, Kalpetta. Afternoon session was followed by discussion on "How Wayanad can emerge as a safe food destination".
