Universities should be the repositories of knowledge says KAU Vice Chancellor.

Universities  are the repositories of knowledge and should facilitate in imparting knowledge in multiple disciplines to enhance value in developing skills and  supporting teaching and research says the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University, Dr.R.Chandrababu while delivering the inaugural address in the valedictory function of the second orientation programme,” Innovative Pedagogical Strategies” organised by the Academic Staff College of KVASU from 3rd to30th January at CVAS Mannuthy.

Dean Prof. C. Latha in her welcome address, emphasized the application of innovative teaching methodologies and reiterated the quote of Dr.Nelson Mandela that” Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. The function was presided by the Registrar and Director Entrepreneurship, KVASU, Dr. Joseph Mathew opined that teachers need to sharpen their teaching methodologies for smarter facilitation of learning process.

The seminar report was presented by the course director, Dr.Karthiayini. The 24 days  programme included various aspects of teaching, like innovative strategies in English language learning, problem based learning, methods to become an effective teacher, mind control; pedagogical principles in education, creativity and innovation in education. Apart from this, the role of media in education, use of ICT tools in teaching, e resources for teaching and research, Open educational resources in moodle courses, technical writing skills, plagiarism detection were  also discussed. The programme also covered the topics on personality development & problems in early adult hood, time management, creative visualization and positive attitude, co-operative learning strategies, research ethics and interpersonal relationship, cybercrime and security, intellectual property rights, Ethics,Integrity & Aptitude in Higher Education and Education- Democracy-Value System. A recent concept of gamification in education was also discussed in the programme. The seminar digest was released by Dr. K.M. Syam Mohan, the finance officer of KVASU. The Director Academics and Research, Dr. N. Ashok, Dean, CVAS, Pookode, Dr. Koshy John, Associate Dean, CVAS, Mannuthy, Dr. P.V. Tresamol, Former Director of Academic Staff College, Dr.B.Sunil offered felicitations. The Director, Academic Staff College, Dr.S.Maya proposed vote of thanks. The orientation programme was attended by 41 participants.
