STUDENT – INDUSTRY- FARMER – ACADEMIA CONVERGENCE CONCLUDES AT THE COLLEGE OF DAIRY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, TRIVANDRUM
The three day programme " VAIBHAVAM " conducted as part of the National Milk Day Celebrations by the College of Dairy Science and Technology, Thrituvananthapuram concluded yesterday. The programme started on November 26 (National Milk Day) with an In-House Life Skill Coaching on the topic: ‘Managing Development through Dairying – The Kurien Methodology’ by Sri. K.T. Thomas, Former MD, Milma-MRCMPU. The programme of the day was inaugurated by Dr. R. Rajendra Kumar, Former Faculty Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology.
The second day (November 27th) was dedicated to ‘Triple Eye: Industry –Innovation- Interface Session’ and Innovation Ideas Presentation Competition (‘Innovate to Illuminate’ - Poster Competition and ‘Huddle for Hurdles’ – Oral Competition). The programme was inaugurated by Hon. Dairy and Animal Husbandry Minister Smt. J. Chinchu Rani. Hon. Vice Chancellor of KVASU Dr. Anil K.S. presided over the function. Sri. K.S. Mani (Milma Chairman), Smt. Mani Viswanath (Chairperson, TRCMPU), Dr. P. Sudheer Babu (Registrar, KVASU) and Dr. S.N. Rajakumar (Dean, Dairy Science Faculty) felicitated the function. The IDA best woman dairy farmer award was given to Smt. Vidhu Rajeev of Kottayam by the Minister. Mr. Asif. K. Yusuf IAS (MD, Milma), Mr. Anil Kumar. P (Senior VP, Hatsun Agro Products) and Dr. Manoj. A.S (KDISC-YIP) presented various topics related to innovation and entrepreneurship. Students from various colleges actively participated in the competitions and secured cash prizes. Dr. Shyam Suraj S.R, Special Officer welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rejeesh. R (Convenor, Vaibhavam) expressed the vote of thanks.
The third day (November 28th) was exclusively for progressive farmers; which started with a Dairy Seminar by Dr. A. Prasad (Head, LRS, KVASU) followed by Livestock Stakeholder Workshop. Smt. Salini Gopinath (Director, DDD), Dr. Nandakumar (Asst. Director, AHD), Dr. Rajeev. R (MD, KLDB) and Dr. Lalu. K (KVASU) enlightened the audience with Vision 2047 for the Livestock Sector. Dr. T.S. Rajeev (Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU) was the moderator. Dr. Rachana. C. R (Academic Officer, CDST) welcomed the participants and Dr. Devi. S.S. (Co-ordinator, RRTC) summed up the session and gave away the vote of thanks.
The programme was conducted by the college in association with Milma, KDISC-YIP, Kerala Feeds, Kerala Livestock Development Board and Indian Immunologicals, with the support of DE, KVASU.
