Department profile

The Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology, CVAS Pookode started functioning in CVAS, Mannuthy in the year 2001. Later on the Department got shifted to CVAS Pookode in December, 2004. The department has a well maintained museum with mounted skeletons of domestic animals and rare specimens of wild animals and birds which is a source of information for visitors including scientists, students of school and colleges and public in general. Anatomy forms a solid foundation upon which several other disciplines are built including both clinical and non-clinical subjects. Being one of the basic subjects of veterinary science, a sound knowledge in the field of anatomy is indispensable to assimilate all other subjects in the Veterinary field.
Courses offered
UG, PG, MS wildlife, BSc Poultry and Ph.D courses are offered in Department of Veterinary Anatomy.
 
 
Academic Facilities
Facilities in the department include a well-equipped dissection lab, embalming room, bone room, histology practical lab and PG Research lab. Multimedia facilities such as smart board and LCD projector, advanced microscopes with microphotography are the major assets of the department.
 
Research Facilities
Research facilities include rotary microtomes, Olympus Microscope with an attached high resolution electronic camera suitable for microphotography with micrometry modality. A well-equipped PG research lab with facilities for routine and special histological and histochemical staining techniques.
