The Department of Animal Nutrition, COVAS, Pookode located at Wayanad district was started functioning in the Year 2004 under College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Pookode, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, with an objective of teaching, research and extension in the field of Animal nutrition and feed technology Apart from regular B.V.Sc&AH programme department also offering courses for MVSc, PhD, MS and Diploma programmes.
A fully equipped Feed and Fodder analysis laboratory is functioning under the department for research in animal nutrition and practical training for students on feed analysis and to cater the needs of private and public entrepreneurs for quality evaluation of feeds. Department is also extending facilities to farmers and entrepreneurs for dissemination of knowledge on scientific feeding and least cost feed formulation for economic animal production.
