Profile
The mandate of this department is to conduct fundamental and applied research in areas pertinent to dairy and food chemistry as well as to engage in technology transfer and dissemination of information through training and publications. The department has been delivering support to various milk co-operatives, milk processing units for Quality Control and Quality Assurance. In addition to the Dairy Chemistry courses in the B.Tech curricula currently being offered, the department looks forward to offering post graduate degree programmes in dairy chemistry, food chemistry and chemical quality assurance in the near future. The department strives to be a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the field of Dairy and Food Chemistry. It shall also strengthen the consultancy services as well as R& D support towards quality related issues confronting the food processing/dairy processing sector.
Dairy Chemistry Lab
Facilities for the chemical quality analysis of milk and milk products are available in this laboratory. Practical sessions as stipulated in the B.Tech curricula are performed at the lab by the students.
