Dairy Technology department is the major department in the College of Dairy Science & Technology, offering 11 courses with 33 credits for B.Tech (Dairy Technology) under graduates, besides Experiential Learning Programme with 10 Credits and In-Plant Training with 20 credits. The department is also offering M.Tech. (DT) Post Graduate programme with 55 credits since 2012. Current faculty status includes the Professor and Head (In-charge), three Assistant Professors (two on contract basis for one year) and Teaching Assistants. The department is having laboratory facilities such as Dairy Technology, Food Technology, Sensory Evaluation, Rheology and Product Characterization, Packaging, Fine Instrumentation and Post Graduate (Research laboratory). Students are given practical exposure regarding processing of milk for manufacture of dairy products in the University Dairy Plant. Full-fledged Experiential Learning Unit is available in the department for conducting Experiential Learning Programme. Two-stage spray drier, double effect falling film evaporator and many other sophisticated types of equipment are installed. The department also provides Hands on Training for farmers, small-scale entrepreneurs and students on preparation of different dairy products and also research facility for external students.
